CHAENG steel slag vertical mill helps Shagang Group to improve economic and environmental benefits
Steel slag grinding project is one of the technology upgrade projects of Shagang Group. It was put into production in September 2021, and designed to produce 600, 000 tons of steel slag powder per year. The project is contracted by Xinxiang Great Wall Machinery (CHAENG). According to the raw material characteristics of Shagang steel slag, CHAENG uses GRMSS46.31 steel slag vertical mill as the main grinding equipment, and according to local conditions and site conditions, it provides Shagang Group with an steel slag grinding solution with an annual output of 600,000 tons.
Due to the high hardness of steel slag, the particle diameter is still about 6-8 mm after being pulverized by conventional ball mills and roller mills, and it needs to be reprocessed by cement manufacturers. Xinxiang Great Wall Machinery continuously optimizes the plan, so that the fineness of the finished product reaches about 0.003 mm in diameter. It not only reduces the energy consumption of the whole process, eliminates the environmental hidden danger during reprocessing, but also increases the added value of the product, realizes environmental protection and economic benefits, and is a milestone for iron and steel enterprises to achieve green, environmental protection and low-carbon development.
It is understood that "steel slag grinding" is an industry-recognized environmental protection project and a recyclable economy project, and it is also the "second leap" of Shagang's steel slag treatment. In 2020, Shagang built the country's largest 3.3 million-ton steel slag treatment project, which will achieve 100% comprehensive utilization of steel slag through deep processing such as magnetic separation, crushing, rod grinding, and screening. At the end of October of the same year, nearly 600 tons of steel slag from Shagang was successfully applied to the sponge transformation project of Zhangjiagang municipal roads. After the steel slag grinding production line with an annual output of 600,000 tons was put into operation, it has truly realized the transformation of steel slag from "solid waste" into "products", and further extended the green economic chain.
